1) What role did Cummins play in your personal life, how was your journey of 4 years at Cummins?
With a dream to be an Engineer someday when I joined Department of Instrumentation & Control at Cummins College of Engineering for Women, very little did I knew about the processes or the way to clear Engineering exams. I had too many assumptions which clean balled me in my first year of engineering. No matter how hard one studies, the approach must be right. Every year at the Department of Instrumentation & Control at Cummins College of Engineering for Women helped me understand my goals and focus on what is important to achieve them.
I would not have completed my education if the department of Instrumentation & Control engineering had not sponsored my education or my seniors had not helped me with expensive books which I could not buy at that point in time or if my classmates had not shared their notes. I give 100% credit to the Department of Instrumentation & Control at Cummins College of Engineering for Women for boosting my confidence, imparting leadership qualities in me and making me an independent woman. My time here at the Department of Instrumentation & Control played a vital role in helping me understand my strengths and values, it taught me very important lessons for life. ‘Failure is a failure when you don’t act on it and don’t move on, the very thought of surpassing it is a first step to success’
All the activities we did at the Department of Instrumentation & Control at Cummins College of Engineering for Women have built leadership skills, which helped me own my life decisions. Moreover, it has taught me to give back to society and share knowledge whenever possible. Perhaps, it gave me the courage to publish my first book “FaceIT-Bewitching stories of Human Onions”. It is my attempt to share my learnings with anybody and everybody who wants to be in corporate about things less spoken about.

2) How did Cummins and lab faculty help you with a practical approach towards instrumentation and control engineering?
I was and I am still very fond of Atul Joshi sir, all the lessons he would teach us, especially the “fuzzy logic and its application” shall never fade. The Computer Science taught by Revati ma’am and Digital Signal Processing taught by Hazare Sir remains with me till the date. Given an opportunity, I still would love to study Biomedical instrumentation by Asmita Ma’am once again.
3) Is there any particular incident or method of teaching at Cummins which has had a significant impact on your corporate career?
Respect the work or opportunities you come across, don’t gauge knowledge, this is what opened my mind and I selected opportunities which nobody was willing to take. This has got me to a level where I am both technically professionally or personally.
Joshi Sir always used to say “be honest and say NO if you don’t know, it will help you build your credibility”.
I follow this judiciously. If you are honest, then you become fearless and that attitude takes you levels.
Department of Instrumentation & Control at Cummins College of Engineering for Women made me fearless and this has helped me a lot in my career.
4) What role did Cummins play in preparing you for your corporate job?
For me whatever I learned academically in Instrumentation & Control became irrelevant when I opted for Information technology for bread and butter. However, I learned to debug skills, logical analysis, and survival skills in an immensely competitive world more here at the Department of Instrumentation & Control.
Department of Instrumentation & Control at Cummins College of Engineering for Women is a brand and being alumni of the same has helped me be an edge over others.
5) Would you recommend the Department of Instrumentation & Control at Cummins College of Engineering for Women to others?
Anytime, I’m very proud of my journey at Cummins and the institute itself.
