National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National service scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the government of India. NSS was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969. NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage. The NSS program aims to make NSS student youth better citizens through the “Development of their personality through Community Service”. Each NSS volunteer is required to work continuously for 2 years in regular activities and an annual special camp.
Activities include awareness campaigns, plantation, education, health, environment, cleanliness, save water, save energy, disaster management, rural development, blood donation etc.
